Longridge Town put in a solid and professional performance to run out winners over South Liverpool.
The Ridge needed to get back to winning ways following two straight defeats, and did exactly that.
Ashcroft made just the one change with Luke Smith returning to the starting 11, taking the place of Lucas Wane.
Town started as they meant to go on.
Despite the wind taking a hold of the ball a bit, especially when it left the ground.
Longridge stuck to their plan and started the game fluidly.
The first opportunity came from down the left, as McLean and Hewitt combined before the latter crossed into Jack Anderton but the cross was just above him.
Hewitt then raced down the left again, beating his man for pace before sliding it along the ground to Anderton again, but this time the forward connected but got his shot wrong, firing over the bar.
Anderton's desire to score was evident, and he soon got his reward for his hard work.
As the loose ball bounced across the area on 13 minutes, none of the South defenders could get back quick enough, and Anderton managed to get there and roll it past the routed goalkeeper to break the deadlock.
'Ginge' then looked for another soon after, as he cut inside from the right before firing a left footed effort into the arms of the 'keeper.
Just before the half hour mark, South Liverpool attacked through the midfielder and managed to strike the cross with an effort from 20 yards out.
Mason Walker was then called into action from outside his area.
As the ball was lobbed over the defence and South's Merrifield looked to race onto it, Walker bolted off his line and committed a fantastic sliding challenge to dispossess the attacker.
The half then petered out with both sides struggling to get a grip of the ball with it going back and forth in possession as the visitors started to get into the tie.
Ticket number 5832 won the half time pound for the ground jackpot.
A massive thank you to those who keep entering, with the jackpot growing each week due to the incredible support.
Town had a solid start to the second half.
Van Wyk had two efforts in the opening minutes, with one deflecting wide and the other into the goalkeeper's arms.
Anderton took a whack in midfield, but was okay to continue for the moment.
Longridge actually had the ball in the net through Luke Smith but the flag was up on the far side against Hewitt in the build-up.
The game then took a tasty turn.
Charlie Alston made a strong but fair challenge on South's Rio Merrifield.
Unfortunately, Merrifield wasn't happy with it, and grappled Alston whilst the fullback was on the floor.
Understandably unhappy, the youngster gave him some back.
Both ended up being booked.
The resulting free kick delivery was headed back across goal towards Sam Smith who looked certain to equalise.
Somehow, Walker lept across goal to claw it off the line and hold onto it.
Town held on for the moment and soon extended their lead.
Birthday boy Luke Smith had one to celebrate as he found the back of the net from close range to double Longridge's lead with 20 minutes left to play.
Van Wyk headed a deep cross from substitute Lucas Wane back across goal for Smith who powered the header home.
Moments later, it seemed as though Anderton's knock was a reoccurring one, and he soon made way for Jordan Dainty.
Town then looked for another on the break, as Van Wyk slid it across to Dainty who shot wide.
A few substitutions and seven added minutes later, the full time whistle was blown, confirming a massive three points for Town, firing them back up to 7th in the Premier Division table.
Mason Walker also earning a very well deserved first clean sheet.
Massive thanks to the 177 who supported the boys brilliantly again.
Inglewhite Road is a brilliant place to be at the minute, and that's down to the feel good atmosphere as well as the results.
We're back at home on Tuesday against quick starters AFC Liverpool at 7:45pm.
A win there could potentially take Town back into the play-off places.
