The Ridge are back in pre-season action as they travel to First Division North side Nelson.

It has been a great pre-season start for Lee Ashcroft's following a draw against National League North side Chorley (defeat on penalties), and a victory over East Lancs side Feniscowles & Pleasington.

It's also the George Melling Tournament on 5th/6th July, how fast has that come around?

The Opposition

The Admirals finished runners up in the First Division North, but lost out on promotion to the eventual winners Euxton Villa, in a thrilling 10-9 penalty shootout.

Top goalscorer Charlie Frost has moved on but there's still plenty of threats to be wary of from the 24/25 First Division top scorers.

Ex Bamber Bridge and FC United of Manchester striker Max Cane would be near the top of that list.

No doubt that the Blues will prove a really good pre-season test for Town.

Fun fact, Nelson were the first English side to beat Real Madrid (4-2) in Spain back in 1923.

That's not intimidating at all.

It's not like they are strangers to Town at least.
