Saturday marks a historic day for Longridge Town as it is involved in the FA Cup for the very first time.

Town take on fellow NWCFL Premier Division side Barnoldswick Town in the extra preliminary round this weekend, in Longridge’s first game back at the MRG this season.

To make the day even more special, the FA Cup trophy will be on display at the ground from 1pm for supporters to come and see and have photographs with.

Ashey will be hoping to put his cup woes behind him and go on a run in the oldest football competition in the world, but will know that Barnoldswick too will be up for the cup!

The manager will also hope his side is able to bounce back from the 4-2 defeat at Irlam in midweek. Town were 3-0 down in the second half, with goals from George Thomason and Delial Brewster getting Longridge back into the game, but Irlam took all three points.
Barnoldswick will also be hoping to better their last result, after losing 2-1 at Charnock Richard on Tuesday night.

Our visitors were formed in 1972 as two clubs, Bethesda F.C. And Barnoldswick Sports Club F.C, came together to form Barnoldswick United.

The club grew over time and joined the West Lancashire League in 1997-98. In 2003-04 the club changed its name to Barnoldswick Town, and in 2009-10 the club made a successful application to the North West Counties Football League.

The club finished 11th in the NWCFL Premier Division last season and were West Riding County Cup semi-finalists.

Tomorrow’s game is kindly sponsored by SWC, Cleggs Chilled Food Service and the Alston Pub and Dining. We would like to thank them for their support!
