The Ridge look to build on a brilliant opening day victory over FC St Helens, with hopes of a similar result away at newly promoted Euxton Villa.

A Matt Van Wyk brace in the last 15 minutes saw the Ridge come from a goal behind to snatch all three points on opening day.

Meaning the Ridge debut the season in 6th place.

However, the staff and players make it clear that we won't be getting carried away, especially with a tough trip so close on the horizon.

The Opposition

Euxton Villa are one of two freshly promoted sides.

One that Town have only faced once, two years ago in an LFA Cup game at Inglewhite Road which Longridge won 3-1.

Following a brilliant campaign where they defeated Droylsden in the play-off final, Euxton started the new season with a 1-1 draw with established Premier Division side Prestwich Heys.

The side includes an hat-trick of former Longridge players, that being Finley Kent, Aaron Hewitt and Nathan Whalley.

However it was fellow defender Jack Wyers-Roebuck who scored their first ever goal in the NWCFL Premier Division.

Former Preston North End goalkeeper Oliver Lombard won't be easy to get past either.

With Villa still riding high on the delight of promotion too, it's going to be a tough battle at the Jim Fowler Memorial Ground.

Team News

Whilst Leighton Hewitt missed out on the first day, he'll be back in contention sooner rather than later.

Ben Fletcher and Jack Anderton were the other two absentees.

But again, it won't be long until we see them both again.

Goalkeeper Oliver Bellizia received the MOTM on his debut for the Ridge, following a stellar performance between the sticks.

Charlie Markland also assisted Matty's winner on his debut, boding well for the success of our summer signings.

Maddox Banks and Connor High put in great showings on their debuts.
