Town make their second trip to the Community Ground this season, due to City of Liverpool currently ground sharing with Burscough.

The Ridge will be looking to make it two league wins in a row, at a tough place to go.

As good as Town started, the form has fluctuated somewhat.

Tonight is an opportunity to begin repairs, with Longridge taking on City of Liverpool for the first time ever.

The Opposition

Founded in 2015, City of Liverpool FC are a supported owned team.

They play in purple as a mix of Everton blue and Liverpool red.

The Purps were accepted into the North West Counties for the 2016/17 season, where they immediately gained promotion to the Premier Division in their first season.

In 2018/19, they were crowned champions, winning promotion to the NPL West Division, where they played until 2024/25 when they were relegated back to the NWC.

This came just one season after finishing 5th in the NPL West.

They followed this up with just 3 wins in 42 games.

As many have learnt, it's very difficult to bounce straight back as they find themselves in 21st.

After losing their home, the Purps are playing at the Community Ground, where they are yet to win a game.

However, they did win away at AFC Liverpool, scoring twice in the last five minutes to win 4-3 in a crazy comeback.

Robert Murphy scored twice in that game, and also jointly leads their charts with five goals, despite being a defender.

That being said, Adam Morgan may be more of a man to be wary of, having also scored five goals, but inside just six matches.

Owen Hough is also on their books, having scored against Longridge last season for South Liverpool.

No doubt that the Purps will have a turnaround of results, let's just hope it doesn't come yet.

Team News

In case you missed it:

Striker Will Procter has joined the Ridge from Barnoldswick Town.

The prolific youngster scored 21 goals in all competitions last season for Barlick, and started this season well, scoring 4 goals in the opening 11.

He'll be in contention for his league debut tonight.

Mason McKay also got his first goal contribution on Saturday since joining the club on dual registration from AFC Fylde, assisting the opening goal.

The Ridge now face a hat-trick of away games, before returning home on 11th October to host South Liverpool.
