Match Information
The Magpies first team will make the journey over from Victory Park for a 7:30pm kick off time at the Recycling Lives Ground on Tuesday 11th July.
In the last meeting between the two sides came on 13th July 2019 where Chorley ran out comfortable 4-0 winners. Town will be looking for a more respectable score-line this time around, especially given the 4-1 home defeat to AFC Fylde last week.
Town have won 1 out of 3 pre-season games so far with a 4-1 win away to Lostock St Gerards and but ended the week with a 3-2 defeat away to Blackpool Wren Rovers on Saturday. Tuesday will also mark the beginning of five consecutive home matches for Longridge with games against Bamber Bridge, Hyde United, Bolton Wanderers and Stalybridge Celtic yet to come.
The Opposition
Chorley enjoyed a good season last year with a secure 12th placed finish in the National League North last year. Their top goal-scorer was forward Connor Hall who notched 20 goals making him the joint-fourth top scorer in the league. However the striker moved on to League Two chasers Solihull Moors this summer so Tuesday's player to watch shall instead be Ollie Shenton.
The 25 year old is a midfield stalwart who has made over 100 appearances for the Magpies after joining the club in 2015 from Stoke City. He scored 4 goals in 39 games last season and is sure to cause problems for The Ridge should he play. Former Longridge Town loanee Cian Spencer-McDermott has also been proving his worth to the Magpies with a goal over in Spain on Saturday
Just like Town Chorley has played three friendlies thus far, one where they lost 3-0 to Garstang and the others where they reversed that scoreline to beat both Euxton Villa and Alicante City 3-0 away.
Team News
Pleased with his sides performances in recent weeks, manager Lee Ashcroft will be looking to improve Longridge's home form: "We've not been as good at home over the last two seasons but hopefully, this year we're gonna be better at home. We've got some young, bright footballers but they're learning how to play the game"
Longridge will still be without some key players in Jack Arrowsmith and Ben Finley who are in the recovery process following two nasty ACL injuries with youngster Charlie Alston also set to miss out, but look as though they could all be back playing before the new year. Dean Ing is questionable with the striker just a week or two behind with a slight knee issue.
Town recently confirmed the signings of goalkeeper Kier Barry, defender Ryan McLean, forward Theo Ball and midfielders Leighton Hewitt and Brett McGovern. All will look to play a part in tomorrow's game but the availability of Kier Barry and Theo Ball are both in doubt due to Chorley being Barry's parent club and Ball having gone off injured in the first half of Saturday's defeat to Blackpool Wren Rovers.
