The Opposition

Abbey Hey had a good debut year in the Premier Division last season.

A 13th place finish gave a great platform to build on.

Unfortunately, they've found themselves at the wrong end of the table as we enter the new year.

The Red Rebels have managed to lift themselves out of the bottom two, but remain in a dogfight with City of Liverpool, with just two points separating the two teams.

They've bolstered their defence with the signing of former Town defender Maddox Banks and striker Daniel Heffernan, who bagged a hat-trick in a 6-2 victory over Litherland REMYCA in early December.

With another goal against Mossley in the Manchester Premier Cup, he may be the big dangerman.

He'll need to be their main main, after attacker and top goalscorer Levi Walsh departed for National League North side Curzon Ashton earlier today.

Goalkeeper Connor Beard gave Town issues last season, saving a penalty as his side went on to win 4-1 against Town in a tough awayday for the Ridge.

We also won't forget Moses Yoak.

The Longridge fan favourite played well over 50 games for the Ridge, scoring 12 goals and is now plying his trade in the Abbey side.

Don't let the league table fool you, Abbey Hey are a more than capable side.

Team News

Josh Ashe returned to Bury last week, featuring on the bench in their 2-2 draw with Darleston Town whilst on dual registration with the Ridge.

Town also reached an agreement with Morecambe during the week to extend Oscar Wright's loan by another month.

Both Jack Arrowsmith and Daniel Cunningham returned to the LTFC squad last weekend following long layoffs with injury.

Arrowsmith managed 32 minutes off the bench.

Mitch Marshall and Ben Trafford remain out, but are both making good progress.
