On Saturday, The Ridge play in the preliminary round for the first time in four years.

We take on 1874 Northwich of the Midlands Premier Division.

Both sides come into the game in fantastic form, having both won their last three games.

Town especially are bang in form, following an emphatic 8-0 victory over Colne.

Should make for a decent game at the weekend.

The Opposition

The '74 are looking to recover from a rough season in the Nothern Premier Division West, where they suffered relegation from step 4.

They've gone the right way about it though, making a winning start to their Midlands Division campaign, with wins over Lichfield City and Brocton.

The won their place in the preliminary round with a 2-1 win over Stockport Town, of the North West Counties Premier Division.

Chris Herbert's side will represent one of the toughest tests faced yet for Lee Ashcroft's men this season, as they look for a direct return to step 4.

With the '74's first visit to Longridge since 2021 coming up, we'll provide information for any first time Green visitors to PR3.

The best pub for away fans is recognised as Wilfrid's, a club just under a ten minute walk from the ground.

There is also the Towneley arms, roughly the same ammount of walking time to Inglewhite Road.

However, all away fans are more than welcome to drink in the clubhouse, once the ground opens at 12:30pm.

Following two years out with an ACL injury, Charlie Alston made his return to action in Tuesday's 8-0 victory over Colne, playing around 13 minutes.

Unfortunately, midfielder Jacob Bridges's suspension will come into play for this match, following his sending off at the Isle of Man.

Jordan Gidley will be looking to keep his brilliant clean sheet record up, having not conceded for 3 games (270 minutes)
