Longridge Town are pleased to announce the signing of Francis Leather, with the talented 18-year-old defender joining the club for the season.
A former Crewe Alexander scholar, Francis joins the Ridge following his release from the League Two side and has spent the entirety of pre-season with the club, quickly making a positive impression on the managers.
Primarily a centre-back, Francis is comfortable anywhere across the defensive line. His composure in possession, calm authority on the ball and willingness to learn have stood out throughout pre-season, earning him the opportunity to continue his development at Longridge.
Manager Ashey believes the youngster has all the attributes to bounce back from the disappointment of missing out on a professional contract.
"We have had a few lads from Crewe now, so Francis has an idea of what he is coming into. He knows Josh Ashe from his time there and has done well in pre-season against some strong sides. He is another young player who will be looking to bounce back after the disappointment of not getting a pro deal, and we will be doing everything we can to help him to do that."
Still only 18, Francis joins an exciting young group at Longridge and will be looking to continue his development while competing for opportunities throughout the season.
Everyone at Longridge Town would like to welcome Francis to the club!
