Hat tricks for Hart and Wicks as Town capitalise on early red card.

To be given the Captains armband was the icing on the cake for me
- Jay Hart

Holker finished the game with just nine men but striker Jay Hart, who finished the game with the Captains armband after Conor Linighan made way, was keen to stress the gulf in quality between the two sides as Longridge registered a record 11-2 victory.

He said:

"We had six players missing who could probably have started but our attitude was first class all afternoon.

"It sounds a bit harsh but we could have had more to be honest.”

In his first season at the Club Jay has quickly established himself as a crowd favourite, and his hat-trick today won’t do him any harm with the Longridge support.

“I’ve played at a decent level for a few years now for several Clubs, but I love it here.

"The Manager has been a big influence on me, changing my game with the simplest little instructions, and I’m scoring goals which always helps.

"Everyone has been so welcoming to me and I feel like I belong at the Club more than anywhere I’ve ever played.

"To be given the Captains armband for the last 30 minutes was the icing on the cake for me, I was proud as anything and glad I got my hat-trick to reward the travelling supporters more than anything.

"We’ll enjoy tonight, the coach back, no doubt the traditional stop off in Ulverston, and then it’s all about getting ready for Friday night and a really difficult Home game against AFC Blackpool."
