Lee Ashcroft’s men are heading back to Greater Manchester on Tuesday night as the second game of the season sees them face Irlam.

It was a successful first ninety minutes of step five football for Town on Saturday, who made the trip to Greater Manchester to face last season’s title rivals Avro, who didn’t make it easy work.

Town went behind early in the second half before goals from Paul Turner and debutant Sam Maddox secured a 2-1 victory on the opening day.

After being taken off as a precaution, Ashey will be hoping to have Delial Brewster back for the trip back to Greater Manchester to face Irlam on Tuesday night, whilst he will also be boosted by the return of Troy Carsley.

Irlam started the season against Litherland REMYCA, playing out a 2-2 draw on home soil.

They first joined the NWCFL in the 2008/09 season, where they finished eighth in the First Division. They were promoted to the Premier Division in the 2015/16 season and are now in their fourth season in the league after finishing 13th last season.
