Turner Glad To Get The Win

With no goals in the first half of the game, Turner put Town 1-0 up in the 46th minute, and added two more in the 83rd and 90th minutes after William Harris levelled things up in the 68th.

“It was good to get the hat-trick today, we didn’t have the best team performance but we came out with the win in the end so it was good to get the three points.

“We knew we had to come here and get the three points otherwise Tuesday’s win wouldn’t have mattered, Nelson are obviously lower in the table so based on that you would expect us to win today, so it was great to get the win.”

The young forward thought he may had got his third goal of the game sooner, as he hit the post in a chance for a hat-trick but says he was glad he was able to put away another in the dying minutes of the game.

“There was a chance for me to get my hat-trick sooner when I hit the post, it could have gone in but I’m delighted to get the third one which was an alright finish for myself anyway!”

Turner has earned a great deal of praise since joining the first team in the summer and has been rewarded for his hard work with a contract for Town by manager Lee Ashcroft.

As well as being pleased to be contracted to the club, Turner is also grateful for the opportunity to learn and develop at the club alongside some experienced players.

“There’s a good set of lads here at Longridge Town, a lot of them have been around this league and above for a few years, and Jay (Hart) and Ritchie (Allen) upfront help me learn and develop at this level so it’s good to be around them.”
