The gaffer was happy after seeing his side’s performance in a 7-2 win against Ashton Town at the MRG and dedicated it to Jordan Tucker and his family.

We’re back at the top of the table and it was some display to get us there, some of the forward play we played was unstoppable.

“We dedicate that to Jordan’s Mum who unfortunately passed away at the weekend.

“That was the team talk beforehand, he was here for the game.

“He’s been looking after his Mum for the last few months and we wanted to honour her with a minute silence before the game.

“We want to dedicate the win to Jordan and his family, and we hope to see Jordan back playing soon.”

The game saw Town return to the top of the Hallmark Security NWCFL First Division North with Tom Ince and Jay Hart both scoring twice.

Richie Allen, Phil Doughty and Paul Turner also got onto the scoresheet, completing the rout.

“We’re back at the top of the table and it was some display to get us there, some of the forward play we played was unstoppable.

“I thought Jay Hart was magnificent from minute one today.

“He’s finally played 90 minutes, I’ve kept dragging him off to give others a game, but he fully deserves the plaudits and earning himself the Man of the Match award.

“Some of the play around the 18-yard box from the lads was absolutely first class this evening.”

Continuing:

“It’s easy to forget these players have only just come together at the start of this season, they’re still gelling.

“We’re 13 games in in terms of the league now and we’re getting better.

“The pitch held up nicely, we continue to have a lot of work done to it and thankfully it’s holding up and allowing us to play football the way we want to play.

“Ashton tired the last 20 minutes because they’ve chased us for the first 70, it was great display and I’m a happy manager tonight and hopefully we can kick on on Saturday.”

Just short of 200 huddled into the MRG with a biting breeze sweeping around the MRG.

The support didn’t escape the attentions of the manager who was quick to offer praise given the following shown under the lights on the first taste of autumn.

“The attendance of 191 was absolutely fantastic in these conditions.

“I’ve said all along, when we’re away from home we travel really well, every away game we’ve played it’s been the home side’s highest attendance.

Adding:

“Our supporters have been absolutely brilliant. On a cold Wednesday night to have that backing was great.

“I’d like to thank the fans for coming, I hope they enjoyed it and I hope they come again!

“We’re trying to build a fanbase and get more new faces through the gate and let them enjoy what we’re trying to do.”

The fast-paced nature of football continues with the second of four games in quick succession at the MRG this Saturday as Squires Gate visit in the First Round of the Macron Cup.
